How we verify

Anyone can call a business Malayali-owned on a website. Mallu shows you the public sources we found, and a score out of 100, so you can judge for yourself.

What the score means

We collect businesses from public sources: Malayali association sponsor and classified pages, community business directories, search results and maps. For each one we look for signs of a Malayali connection, add up points, and show you the score and where it comes from. Last updated 18 October 2026.

Verified on Mallu means we found public signals. It does not mean the owner has confirmed it, and it is not a government or industry register. It also does not mean we have checked the quality of the work.

The three labels

Strong match

75–100 out of 100

Several clear signs, usually a statement of Kerala or Malayali roots, an association sponsorship, or Malayalam listed as a language.

492 businesses

Likely Malayali-owned

46–74 out of 100

Some clear signs, such as a directory listing, but fewer or weaker ones.

423 businesses

Possible match

6–44 out of 100

Weak signs only, like a name or an area. We keep these off the main lists and out of search engines until they are confirmed.

180 businesses

Counts come from our full data set of 1,095 businesses, including those we do not show in lists.

The signals we look for

These are the signals in our data, the typical points each adds, and how many businesses have it. Name-based signals are weak on purpose.

What the score does not mean

  • It does not mean the owner has confirmed anything. Today the score comes from an automated review of public pages.
  • It is not a licence, registration or qualification check. Before you hire a doctor, broker, tax agent, migration agent or tradie, check the official register. Each category page says which one.
  • It is not a rating of quality, price or service.

Paying never changes it

Businesses may pay for plans in future, but a plan can never buy a Verified label or a higher score. How Mallu makes money.
